Bedroom Blues
Certain colors are often taste specific, meaning, you may like it but not everyone will… so especially true when selling your home, always paint rooms {bedrooms especially} a neutral, calming color that appeals to the majority of people looking to buy your house. This transformation started with new paint on the walls, new flooring and moldings installed, and the room was then staged for sale. If you’re tight on budget and don’t have the money or know-how to replace an outdated light fixture, try replacing only the glass around the light bulbs with updated one’s from your local hardware store like we did in this re-do.

Relaxing Guest Retreat
This room had great bones but just needed some direction… in order to reuse furnishing the owner’s had throughout the rest of the house, I decided we needed to paint the walls a softer neutral and stage away… my favorite thing to do!

Teenage Bedroom
Teenage daughters had moved out of the house and the owners were looking to update this loft space. The stained carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood flooring, walls were painted, and sliding mirrors replaced the old louvered closet doors. The majority of this budget was obviously spent on the flooring but I lucked out when I found this on sale at a discount flooring supplier that only had a couple hundred square feet left… just enough for our project!

Simple Guest Bedroom
You might start to see a recurring trend here… it doesn’t take a lot of money to transform a space! Just some neutral paint, usually updated lighting, and a little bit of staging magic to make a house feel like a home.

Green Guest Nightmare
Looking at this fan, you can see that it is already a neutral white and since this was a low budget re-do, we kept it but replaced the glass globes around the light bulbs… easy, inexpensive fix. The walls were painted along as was the trim around the doors and windows; the furniture was rearranged to make this room feel cozy and clean rather than dated and green!

Brassy Bedroom
Paint, new lighting fixture, and refinished hardwood floors made this girl’s bedroom feel light and breezy.

Rewarding Rearrangement
The furniture in this bedroom was blocking the doors to the backyard–so clearly, the room needed to be rearranged… The bed was moved to an adjacent wall, which made space for a dresser that fit perfectly between both exterior doors. The fan was replaced with a modern, tropical style fan, and all the trim in the room was painted a bright white. Not pictured is an additional closet that was added and covered with frameless mirrored doors to give the appearance of a larger space.

Painted Paneling
The dark paneling and old crank windows really make this bedroom feel dark and dated. All I did was paint the paneling a fresh, bright color and ordered a large picture window to replace the old one and that was it! The tenants then brought in their own furniture to really make this space feel warm and inviting.

Double Trouble
These are two separate bedrooms in one single house that needed to be updated… wallpaper ripped down, painted trim, and new light fixtures were an easy fix to this old home.
